Abdullahi Mamman of the Wuyep Lakeside Golf Club, Kaduna, after grossing 153 emerged winner of the 2017 Ola Saad Golf Club Jaji Golf Club Captain’s Tournament, which ended on Sunday.
Best Nett went to Corporal G.P. Utubor who played 152.
In the Ladies’ Category, Elizabeth Samuel played 180 Gross to smile home with the top prize.
Runner-up Gross went to Miss Lucy Monday of the Zaria Golf Club, while Miss Emily Ojo of the host club picked the Best Nett, leaving Habiba Ibrahim also of the host club with the runner-up Nett prize.
Adamu Yusuf of the Zaria Golf Club picked the top prize of the Veteran’s Category after playing 157 Gross.
Runner-up Gross was won by compatriot from same club, Tanimu Garba (167) while Best and Runner-up Nett went to Professor S.U. Abdullahi (148) and Yaro Shehu (159) of Kaduna Golf Club and Zaria Golf Club respectively.
Mrs. Tina Udo played 210 Gross and 160 Nett to in the Veteran Ladies Category.
For the special prizes, Longest Drive Ladies went to Kaduna Golf Club’s Maryam Abdulsalam, while Auwalu M. Badawa of Kano Golf Club picked that of the male category.
Nearest to the pin make category was claimed by Kano Golf Club’s S.M. Suleiman, no lady made it near the pin.
Speaking during the presentation ceremony, Captain of the Ola Saad Golf Club, Colonel Nicholas Ashinze said that he has a passion to develop the game of golf within Jaji and environs.
He explained that the game brings out the best in people, physically, mentally and emotionally.
Commenting on preparations for the competition, he said it was a long and eventual journey, while thanking God that it ended successfully, with a lot of innovations introduced.
