Former National deputy Chairman northwest, of Miyetti Allah Kautal-Hore, Alhaji Ya’u Haruna Malammadori has said that Fulanis are the most neglected, persecuted group in Nigeria, who  are only recognised when there is election, polio immunisation or whenever they commit a crime.

Malammadori stated this on Thursday in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital while briefing newsmen on recent atrocities committed against Fulani group in Nigeria.

“Whenever a herdsman commits a crime, that is when he would be made to understand the existence of a constituted authority, they have no access to all the rights and privileges enjoyed by other Nigerians.

“They have been neglected, persecuted, maimed and killed without any measures been taking by the authorities to serve as deterrent to others. When a herdsmen commits a crime, it is a news, but when a crime is committed against a herdsmen it is never an issue.

“If conventional media can be fair and balanced by reporting the exact happenings in our immediate environment, global public opinion might have prevented most of the carnages.

“No cultural or religious organisation has the monopoly of being criminals or other way round, we are urging for equal administration of justice for all citizenry, and the media might not portray the exact identity of a particular group,” he lamented.

Ya’u Haruna also said, “As leaders we are doing our best by enlightening our people to obey the constituted authority to avoid chaos which would lead to breakdown of law and order, and the government can contribute its own part by applying equal execution of justice to all parties involved in  disputes.

Malammadori also decried that, “President Muhammadu Buhari chose to remain mute over the recent atrocities committed on innocent Fulani women and children, maybe because he doesn’t want to be quoted out of context while we are at the receiving end.”

He further explained that, preparations are on top gear to write to the authorities at the top, including Mr. President to educates some state governors on the issue of grazing in range, as well as the power of exclusive, concurrent and residual as contained in the 1999 constitution.
