Chairman of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Kaduna State Chapter, Mr. Isaiah Benjamin has tasked media practitioners on the need to always exercise to stay healthy.
He gave the advise during the commencement of the Kaduna SWAN 2017 WEEK with a fitness walk at the Murtala Muhammad Square, Kaduna.
Mr. Benjamin said that exercise besides enhancing the physical well being of individuals also promotes mental and psychological health.
The chairman said that in view of that, Kaduna SWAN will henceforth, hold such walks and aerobic sessions once every month.
“The health of our members and that of other journalists is very important, hence we will encourage them through organising if sessions where they can exercise every month.
“We will ensure that this is sustained. We want our members and colleagues to take time out of busy schedules to relax and engage in healthy aerobics,” he added.
Also speaking, the Zonal Secretary (North West) SWAN, Alhaji Abdulraheem Aodu said he was happy with the organisation of the fitness walk.
The national officer, praised members for turning up for the walk, while also stressing the importance of exercise to humans.
The aerobics session was anchored by reputable Sports Facilitator, Coach Felix Oseibe.
Kaduna SWAN members who turned up in good numbers had converged at the Murtala Square by 7am for the event.
Kaduna SWAN WEEK continues on Monday with football, table tennis and Scrabble. Chapels that are featuring in the football competition are Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Kaduna State Media Corporation (KSMC(, Nigeria Television Authority (NTA), NAGARTA Radio, New Nigerian Newspapers (NNN) and Correspondents Chapel.
