We’ve Committed Over N15bn To Education In Jigawa – Gov Badaru

    Jigawa State Governor, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar has said, in response to the change agenda, his administration has expended over N15 billion in the education sector since he came on board.

    The governor, stated that, the state has paid all outstanding dues for UBEC, SUBEB counterpart intervention  funds from 2013 to 2017 which amounted to over N7. Billions which make Jigawa to access UBEC funds.

    As a result, we were able to engage in massive renovation of schools at basic education level, construction of more schools and supply of furniture, added that, his administration paid over N3. Billions for external and internal scholarship for students sponsored by the state.

    Governor Badaru stated over the weekend  in Kiyawa Local Government Area where he received a blocks of classrooms constructed and donated to the state by Zenith Bank.

    He added that, his administration, also paid N600 millions annually for WEAC, NECO and others as registration fees for candidates registered by the state. Also, the feeding of boarding students is an recurrent expenditure component in which about N4 Billions have been expended since we came on board.

    The Governor further explained that, his administration will continue to invest in the sector despite the capital extensive which cannot be delay, most to be done as at when due, he stated.

    “Education is the most important weapon to fight poverty and bring about socio-economic development to communities and Nations.”

    “It is only when people are educated, they will be able to know and worship their creator.

    “It is based on this conviction, the education sector is accorded priority by this administration, despite the fact that, it is capital intensive. The saying goes, if education is expensive, Ignorant cost much more.

    Governor Badaru commended the Bank for it humanitarian gesture and calls upon other Banks, corporate organisation and individuals to compliment the efforts of the state in providing quality education in the state.

    Zenith Bank constructed and donated numbers of classrooms and furniture in five local government area across the state as part of it corporate social responsibilities.
