Not less than nine persons have been reported dead over renewed cult clash in Calabar according to witnesses.
The clash was said to have began as a kingship tussle on who becomes the new clan head of Ikot Omin Community in Calabar municipality.

Reports say the kingship tussle has lingered for years with every attempt to install a new king usually result in assassination. Not less than three heirs to the throne have been assassinated so far.
” we are living in fear because of these boys” a resident who did not want his name in print said.
“Yesterday alone, seven people were killed and today as early as 7 am two have been shot and butchered in pieces, we can no longer do our businesses”
When AUTHENTIC News Daily spoke with the Cross River State police spokesperson, ASP Irene Ukpo, she said the police are having difficulty in tackling the situation.
“We seem to be overwhelmed with these whole thing my brother, as at yesterday, the commissioner of police had a meeting with leaders and representatives of the different cult groups and they actually agreed to call their boys to order but then we are still worried and concerned about the continued issue. Besides, we are handicapped by so many things like vehicles and others. Our men are working hard to arrest the situation but we are handicapped for now”
AUTHENTIC News Daily got in touch with the mother of one of the victims, who works as a security guard with one of the old generation banks, the woman, a known Akara seller was seen crying and lamenting that the victim was her only son. She however could not speak with this reporter.
Cult clashes have continued unabated in despite repeated efforts and several arrests.
