Kano State Government on Wednesday discovered and sealed an illegal premises where fake agrochemicals were manufactured at Kwajalawa quarters in Tarauni Local Government Area.
The state Taskforce on fake and counterfeit made the discovery following a tip off from some patriotic citizens.
Shedding light on the development, the secretary of the Taskforce, Pharmacist Samaila Ciroma explained that all the products, Generators, Grinding and milling machines, as well as the bulk of the fake agrochemicals discovered at the complex have been confiscated by the committee and the premises shut down.
” We did not find anybody at the place so no arrest was made. However, security agencies will carry on with investigation on the matter so as to apprehend then culprits”, he explained.
In a related development, the Pharmaceutical Inspection Committee enforcement team of the state Ministry if Health has closed down five pharmaceutical outlets in Kano metropolis for alleged lack of registration, sale of expired drugs and unethical practices.
Accordingly, the public is hereby adviced to desist from patronizing unregistered pharmaceutical outlets for their own good, hence, they should watch out for duly registered pharmaceutical shops to get the best drugs and services.
The Ministry of Health further enjoined the people to report any suspected illegal or unauthorized manufacturing activities in their communities to the appropriate authorities for prompt action.
