The Chairman of Uvwie Local Government Council,Hon. Ramsy Onoyake on Saturday March 31 warned that the Council will not tolerate any form of indiscriminate disposal of refuse by residents of Okoloba and Ohre-Sapele road in their area.
The Uvwie Council boss handed down the warning in a chat with newsmen during the monthly sanitation exercise in the area.
While noting that site in Okoloba and Ohre-Sapele roads are not government approved dump sites, Hon. Onoyake appealed to the people to comply and subscribe to the acquisition of waste bins from the PSP Operators.
He urged the people to all the PSP Operators evacuate their refuses by taking their refuse to government approved dump sites on their behalf at a cheaper rate.
“I want to use this opportunity to sound a very, very good warning to them that will not take it.
“If anybody should be caught, we will hold them responsible, The law will take its normal cause. The should apply wisdom in anything they are doing.”
Hon. Onoyake also stated that the Uvwie Local Government did not approved posting of bill boards on the median along Jakpa road.
He said that it is “illegal” for anyone to seek approval from the council to put any signpost on the median.
According to Hon.Onoyake,”The median is not for is not bill boards. So, that is why we are going
round to see how we can clear all the boards on the median.”
Hon. Onoyake said,”So, I want to appeal that traders, business owners should stay away from the median  as in putting their bill boards on the median. After this day, if anyone is found on the median, we will know how to go about it.”
“I want to agree that 50% of the sign posts we found on the median are
of churches. I wouldn’t want to say am sounding a warning to them, am
appealing to them they should do what is right. Am appealing to
churches that the median is not the best place for them to put their
signs. In as much as we as Government at the local level, we have made up our minds that churches will develop freely without paying money to community development or anything they call “deve” . We want to agree that we have done our part, they too should assist us by helping us clearing the median. The signposts should be in front of their churches not on the median.”
