Teams featuring in the Engineer Yusuf Best U-13 Soccer Competition are set to know their opponents in the group stages on Saturday April 28, 2018.
Coach Nasiru Chiji of the Kaduna State Community Development (KSCD) Youth Owners Clubs Association (YOCA) disclosed this on Friday exclusively to our correspondent at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium Kaduna.
According to him, the draws pairing the teams would be held at the Gymnasium Hall of the Ahmadu Bello Stadium.
He explained that though more teams were interested in featuring, registration closed with the 32 teams that they would be pitching against each other at the draws.
Though he didn’t disclose how many groups teams will be seeded into during the draws, it is not expected to have more than five groups.
“We are ready to host the draws that would usher in the competition. All the teams are anxious because they know that there will be high standards reflected at the group stages and none wants to be eliminated in the early stages,” he said.
Chiji commended the cup donor, Engineer Yusuf Best for his unrelenting efforts in developing sports at the grassroots.
“The competition is a huge prospect for developing talents at the grassroots. We are expecting several scouts including national teams handlers to come and spot budding talents who will be available for discovery in abundance,” he said.
