The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has disowned the 31 parties calling for a boycott of the elections billed for May 12, 2018.

Kaduna State PDP Chairman, Honourable Felix Hassan Hyet expressed this in a press briefing to counter the position of a group, Kaduna Coalition if Political Parties(KCPP) who had earlier called for a boycott of the polls at the same venue.
“The attention of the Party was drawn to the call by a group for boycotting of the Kaduna State Local Government polls scheduled to hold on Saturday May 12, 2018.
“We as a party are not part of this, and we call on all our supporters to come out and vote. This decision was not taken with our knowledge,” he said.
Hyet, a former Minister of Aviation explained that the attitude of security officials tomorrow (Saturday) will determine what action their party will take.
“We restate our position that that decision was not taken with us.
“We respect the observations raised, but boycotting the election will not bring benefit to us, the only thing that will bring benefit to us is to go out and contest,” he said.
When asked if he has confidence on the KADSIECOM, he said that they only have confidence on the electorate.
“The issue of election is an issue of the voters. Our confidence is on the voters, that is why we are going out, relying on our voters to go out and vote.
“We made our position known and preferred the use of card readers. But since INEC agreed to make the voters register available, we would work with that,” he said.
The PDP Chairman argued that they would not want another excuse for the polls not to hold.
“A government that came to power and promised to conduct election in three months to be yet to do it three years on, we will not want to be part of another excuse,” he added.
