Delta Doctors Shun JOHESU Strike, Treat Patients

    Despite the strike embarked upon by the Joint Health Staff Union (JOHESU), the Central Hospital in Warri was on Tuesday seen rendering medical services to patient. AUTHENTIC News Daily can report.
    In a chat with Our Correspondent in front of his clinic, the Chief Medical Director of the Hospital, Dr. Paul Okubor confirmed the report.
    Dr. Okubor, a Consultant Obsterltrician & Gynaecologist explained that doctors in the hospital are doing their best to attend to patients in line with the free maternal care policy of Governor Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa of providing medical and health care services to pregnant women including children free of charge.
    While noting that there is an ongoing strike by JOHESU, Dr. Okubor said, “Doctors are not part of that strike. Doctors are rendering medical services. The Hospital is not on lock down because JOHESU is on strike.
    “If you go to the Accident Emergency Unit, patient are being admitted. If you go to the Out-patient, Gynae Department, Gynaecologists, doctors are on ground.”
    Dr. Okubor pointed JOHESU members have different roles to play just as he warned that their absence may cause serious daily problems.
    Dr. Okubor further noted that not all the wards are opened because of security reasons.
