In a bid to actualize his ambition, renowned journalist, Omoleye Sowore will be visiting Calabar, the Cross River State capital.
Mr. Sowore is one of the several aspirants already jostling to clinched the nation’s number one job from incumbent Muhammadu Buhari.
The popular journalist and publisher of Nigeria’s top investigative online media outfit, Sahara Reporters, will be visiting the state on 24th May.
During his visit, the presidential hopeful will hold town hall meetings with Cross Riverians, organized private sector, including a visit to Bakassi.
Mr. Sowore’s visit to the displaced people of Bakassi is considered very significant.
It will be the first time any presidential candidate in Nigeria will be visiting the displaced people, since ceding their ancestral home to the republic of Cameroon through a judgement of the International Court at the Hague and the eventual neglect by the Federal Government of Nigeria.
Mr. Sowore is also expected, during his Calabar tour, to among other eminent personalities in the state, pay courtesy visit to the Obong of Calabar, His Eminece, Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi Otu V.
According to the organizers, Sowore’s town hall meeting will hold at the prestigious Pearl Ball Room of the Transcorp Metropolitan Hotel Calabar.
If elected, Mr. Omoleye promises to effectively tackle corruption, raise the minimum wage of workers, including a rise in the monthly allowance of youths undertaking the mandatory National Youth Service Corps programme.
Omoleye runs a successful online media oufit, exposing ineptitude of several state governments and the federal government.
In April 2018, the renowned journalist launched his Take Back Nigeria project. A platform he hopes to use to achieve his political agenda. Promising to run a lean government, Mr. Sowore says he hopes to tackle corruption in a much better way than the current administration.
