Home boys Kaduna United waited until the second half before slotting two behind the net of visiting Kogi United in a National league match played on Wednesday at the Kaduna Township Stadium.
After a first half that witnessed a goals drought from both teams, Kaduna United came into the second half more enterprising and we’re rewarded with their first goal in the 65th minute, courtesy of substitute, Ali Conte.
Samson Pius converted a spot kick in the dying minutes of the game, to put his team two goals up, with the match ending 2-0 in favour of the hosts.
In an interview with newsmen after the game, coach of Kaduna United, Ishaya Jatau described his team,’s win as well deserved.
He dismissed allegations from the opponents that the officiating demoralized his players.
“It was a good game, Kogi United is my team, the boys there are my boys. It was a good game, both teams played well, ” he said.
He basted that when they meet for the return leg in Lokoja, Kaduna will again emerge victorious.
On his part, Coach of Kogi United, Tunde Abdulrahman expressed displeasure with the officiating.
” The first goal was a good one, but the penalty was awarded because Kaduna fans were demanding for it, ” he said.
When asked why his boys were on their side of the field for most of the second half, he said that they were frustrated by the officials.
On what steps he would take to prevent his players from been booked severally in subsequent matches, Abdulrahman said the yellow cards were expected since they were playing away.
He however, assured that his team would upturn the results during the return leg.
Meanwhile, Kaduna soccer fans are set to witness another league action from Kada City FC on Thursday.
Their opponents, Mighty Jets of Jos were spotted looking confident as they stormed the Kaduna Township Stadium to spy on Kaduna United on Wednesday.
