Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose has raised the alarm over alleged plot by the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi to implicate him and some chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with murder by depositing corpses in their homes.
The governor alleged that a meeting was held in Isan-Ekiti, the hometown of Dr. Kayode Fayemi, the flag bearer of the APC in the July 14, 2018 governorship election where a certain thug popularly known as Agbara was assigned with the task of carrying out the sinister plot of killing people and dumping their corpses in houses belonging to PDP chieftains as well as Fajuyi Park.
It should be recalled that at the APC secretariat on Friday, a chieftain of the APC, Hon. Opeyemi Bamidele and five others were hit by shots by a policeman brought from Lagos to protect one of the APC chieftains.
The governor said; “This alarm has become necessary because of a meeting that was held yesterday, in Isan-Ekiti, the hometown of Dr. Kayode Fayemi, the flag bearer of the APC in the July 14, 2018 governorship election.
“They have hired one Agbara to kill one or two indigenes of Ekiti and dump their bodies in the houses of PDP leaders, Fajuyi Park, in Ado-Ekiti or near the government house. This is an attempt to link me and my party with killings.
“This new plot is as a result of the failure of the plot to link me with the shooting of Hon. Michael Opeyemi Bamidele (MOB) and others by a policeman at the APC secretariat on Friday.
“We take exception to this sinister plot as we will not be a party to violence act. Ekiti has been peaceful in the last three and half years, we want to keep enjoying this peace and will not want it disrupted because of politics. Our ambition is not worthy of the blood of any Ekiti indigene.
“We therefore call on the police and other security agencies to be vigilant and Ekiti people to please be watchful. Your life and my life will not be used as sacrifice for this election.
“I want to plead with everyone to please take note that violence is not an option. I also urge the federal government to take necessary steps to safe Ekiti from further crisis.”
In a swift reaction to Faayose’s allegations,the director of Media,John Kayode Fayemi campaign office said:”We have noted Fayose’s false alarm. This is not the first time Fayose is raising false alarm like this. When Fayose raises this kind of alarm, you can be sure that death is lurking in the corner to take off his enemy by his own thugs and blame the murder on the opposition.
“This is exactly the same way his media men raised the alarm on August 12, 2006 that security report had indicated that the opposition was planning the murder of a prominent politician and blame the murder on him in order to destabilise his administration.
Two days after Fayose raised his alarm through his media men in a manner similar to the latest one, Dr. Ayo Daramola was assassinated on August 14, 2006 at his Ijan-Ekiti home town.
“This was Daramola that Fayose hunted, haunted and hounded to death, including forcing him to renounce his governorship ambition on radio and a terrified Daramola obeyed the order. Nevertheless, he was brutally murdered.
Later, suspects arrrested over the murder were noted members of Fayose’s killer squad as explained in the report of President Olusegun Obasanjo Security Panel that investigated political killings in Ekiti State.”
“All efforts by the current administration of Fayose to manipulate the trial of suspects in secret trials to free them have been frustrated so far by the media.
I won’t be surprised if Fayose travels out today and the alleged murder plot he is talking about is carried out tomorrow. That is his style to plead alibi.
“Let him continue his tricks in his murderous enterprise. The Supreme Court had ruled that he has a case to answer in Dr. Daramola’s murder. Incidentally, this same Lere Olayinka that Fayose is using today in the media in his dastardly plot was one of those who wrote in the media explaining how Fayose ran his killer squad with no fewer than 22 Ekiti people losing their lives because one man wanted to make money with the blood of innocent Ekiti people.
“We want security agencies to note that Fayose is up to a sinister motive. He doesn’t raise this kind of alarm in vain; a prominent Ekiti indigent is about to lose his life in government-supervised conspiracy only to blame the murder on the opposition. That is Fayose’s style,”Wole Olujobi stated.
Addressing newsmen yesterday on the development, Prince Tayo Adebiyi who was alleged to have hired the policeman that shot Hon. Opeyemi Bamidele through his Director General Campaign Organisation,Mr. David Ayeni debunked the rumour making the rounds and said:”Gentle men of the press , I called you all here this afternoon to render the true account of the sad incident that occurred on Friday 1st June 2018. We pray that God should touch and heal our leaders : Hon Micheal Opeyemi Bamidele , Otunba Kayode Fasae and other members of our party who were wounded during the shootout that happened as a result of the accidental discharged during the rally .
“Firstly, let me use this medium to appreciate the Nigeria Police Force for their effectiveness by promptly bringing the situation under control
“My Principal Prince Tayo Adebiyi is a peace loving chieftain of the All Progressives Congress who has been contributing immensely to the party advancement since 2014.
“The accidental discharge that occurred during the APC Friday rally was as a result of a struggle that ensued between the mobile policeman and some unknown thugs that invaded the venue of the rally ,the incident happened while he was trying to maintain law and order at the venue.
“Gentlemen of the press, there is no iota of truth in the news flying around the social media that the mobile police was hired for the purpose of assassination of the APC candidate, our own leader Dr. Kayode Fayemi whom Prince Tayo Adebiyi has been up and down promoting through political campaign and advertisement since year 2014.
“He presented a campaign vehicle for the party during Kayode Fayemi’s rerun election in year 2014, he has since provided a vehicle for his campaign even before he won the ticket of the party this year. Let’s also not forget that he produced many BILL BOARDS to promote Dr Kayode Fayemi out of which one of them at Oye Ekiti was vandalised when governor Fayose visited Oye-Ekiti for campaign two weeks . He has donated borehole, computers and scholarship to schools in the name of the All Progressive Party (APC).
“It therefore becomes illogical inconsequential and unreasonable for any Nigerian to think and hold the opinion that Prince Tayo Adebiyi who is a prospective candidate of APC to run as a member of house of representatives come 2019 and a strong supporter and associate Dr. John Kayode Fayemi campaign will will conspire and descend soo low to bring down the personality of Dr. Kayode Fayemi and the party.”
