Shots of live bullets and tear gas were used in dispersing angry protesters who stormed Chikun LGA Secretariat to protest alleged diversion of electoral materials meant for Kujama and Kakau wards in the rescheduled Polls.
Thousands of youth were chatting ‘barawo, barawo’ ‘bamaso APC ‘ as Honourable Mike Yari representing Chikun Constituency was moved away from a room where he was taken to protective custody.
When approached to speak to the press, Hon. Abubakar Mohammed Mamadi a House of Representatives member representing Igabi Constituency declined comments.
The combined security personnel in the area comprising the Nigeria Police Force (regular and mobile units), Nigerian Army, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps and Nigerian Immigration.
As the police fired tear gas to disperse the angry crowd, the angry protesters hurled stones, shattering glass windows, with journalists within the building scampered to safety.
Earlier, Special Adviser to Governor Nasir el-Rufai on Politics, Dr Uba Sani was prevented from gaining access into the local government secretariat by the angry protesters.
The Public Relations Officer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Chikun LGA Deacon Mai Wada explained to newsmen that they came to the secretariat Wednesday morning and discovered that two ballot boxes were missing.
