It took the deployment of no fewer than 27 Trucks of security personnel drawn from various outfits to Quell angry Protesters who lynched two lawmakers allegedly caught with Electoral Materials during the rescheduled local government Polls in Chikun, a metropolitan LGA.
Those accused are House of Representatives member, Hon. Abubakar Mohammed Mamadi and Member of Kaduna State House of Assembly, Hon. Mark Yari.
Thousands of electorate in the area were protesting that both lawmakers, from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) were there to steal their mandates.
The gate of the Chikun LGA Secretariat was brought down by the rampaging Protesters, who said their party PDP had won the polls but being denied their mandate.
In an interview, Hon. Yari said that he was innocent, describing the allegation as the handiwork of the opposition.
He said that he was molested and money stolen from him by the mob.
An eyewitness who pleaded anonymity said that escorted by the police, the lawmakers were planning to do away with the results sheets meant for the area and we’re intercepted by the youth.
As at Time of filing this report, tension was still high in the area.
