Former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has said that late Secretary of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Reverend Musa Asake loved his people passionately.
He expressed this while speaking at Reverend Asake’s funeral service held at the Kafanchan Township Stadium on Friday June 8, 2018.
“He loved you passionately and he fought for you. One of the ways we can remember him is to not forget what he stood for, ” he said.
He encouraged the Christian clerics and traditional rulers in Southern Kaduna to take issues of defending their people seriously.
“If not for a man like Reverend Asake, things would have been different. He was a man of peace. At a time when Christians were being slaughtered many felt that peace was not working and therefore it was time for us to consider retaliation but men like that said no!
“As long as we preach the gospel of peace, long suffering. They may kill us from morning till night but the way to spread Christianity is by the shedding of the blood of the matyrs.
“He also said and I will always remember this, that Christians don’t die, they only change address. Absent in the body, risen with the Lord. Our brother is with the Lord now. He sits in Glory and looks down on us, ” he said.
“To the families of my great and good friend, Reverend Dr. Musa Asake I say may God comfort you, may God guide you, may God lead you and may God comfort you,” he added.
Notable personalities spotted at the service include Prof. Jerry Gana, Bishop Mathew Kukah, and Minister of Agriculture, Chief Audu Ogbe.
The service was anchored by Rev. Yusuf Nmadu, while the charismatic Ecwa Secretary General, Prof Yusuf Turaki delivered rthe sermon.
