    The Managing Director of the Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company (WRPC), Engineer Muhammad Abali has said that the company is committed to Impacting on the lives of its host communities.

     

    He expressed this  on Wednesday,  during the  presentation  of certificates and  award to 56 gradaunds of the organized skills acquisition programme by the management of the company.

     

    The occasion which took place  at the  WRPC fuels plant Canteen,  saw the graduands    given  starter packs for them to start life.

     

    “WRPC is committed to positively impacting the lives of members of the host communities within the limits of its resources and expresses its appreciation to the host communities for their cooperation, collaboration and for maintaining cordial relations necessary for a conducive operational environment.

      

     ”Warri Refining & Petrochemical Company Ltd (WRPC) has held a graduation ceremony for the 7thedition of its Skills Acquisition Programme for host communities.

     

    “WRPC through its laudable Skills Acquisition Programme initiated in 2005 has trained a total of 281 persons from its five (5) host communities inclusive of the present batch for which the closing ceremony is being held today.

     

    “Fifty-six trainees (56) have graduated from seven (7) fields/vocations covering Photography & Videography, Catering & Hotel Management, Hairdressing & Barbing, Welding & Fabrication, Fashion Design/Tailoring, Automechanic & Beauty Arts/ Technique Trades. The training programme ranged from two (2) to nine (9) months.

     

    “The Skills Acquisition Programme was specifically designed to empower the participants with the necessary skills needed for self-development and entrepreneurship with the general aim of improving the standard of living of the people in WRPC’s host communities.

     

    “An added benefit of the Programme is WRPC’s provision of start-up grants and starter packs which are primary tools required to fully commence the business. The graduating trainees have been urged to effectively utilize the opportunity and be shining examples to others in the host communities.

     

    Notable personalities that were present at the ceremony include Chairman, Uvwie LGA Chairman, Warri South LGA,   NNPC Management Staff, Chairman/Secretary of the two inhouse unions,  (NUPENGASSAN)  Chairman and Members of CRC-Ekpan, Ubeji, Ifiekporo, Aja-Etan and Ijala-Ikenren.
