Kaduna Protest: Violent Shi’ites Were Armed With Guns, Knives,  IEDs –  Police 

    The Nigerian Police Force  has  alleged  that the members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria  (IMN)  that protested in Kaduna metropolis on Wednesday were armed with dangerous weapons including guns,  knives and IEDs.
    This was contained in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Kaduna State Command,  ASP Aliyu Mukhtar.
    “The Kaduna State Police Command  wishes to inform the general public that on the 20th June, 2018, at about 12:15hrs a group  of  violent miscreants of the disbanded  Islamic Movement in Nigeria  (IMN) otherwise referred to as Shi’ite, armed with guns, knives, IEDs,  etc disturbed the peace of Kaduna metropolis along Katsina – Kano Road,  by attacking and injuring Police Officers deployed to prevent crime and keep the peace in the state, ” the statement said.
    It informed that their criminal action which was immediately brought under control,  resulted in panic and disruption of lawful activities.
    The Police warned that the group remains proscribed an an illegal organisation.
    ” Therefore,  persons parading themselves as members of the group and especially disturbing the peace shall be treated as criminals and dealt with accordingly, ” it stated.
    ” The command  has deployed strategies to fish out the perpetrators and deal with any emerging threats to disturb the  peace.  Therefore,  members of the public are free to go about their lawful businesses without fear  ” the statement assured.
    It expressed resolve to crime fighting and warned lawless persons or groups that it will not hesitate to deal decisively with them in accordance with the law.
