Only the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has the capacity and goodwill from Nigerians in leading others in rescuing Nigeria from the All Progressives Congress (APC) purposeless leadership which has taken the nation 20 years back.

Deputy National Youth Leader of the PDP, Alhaji Babangida Maina expressed this while speaking at the Inauguration and sensitization lecture of the PDP National Unity Movement (NUM) in Katsina on Saturday.

“Let’s not deceive ourselves that without our party the PDP, Nigeria can be rescued from this irresponsible government.

“We must also not deceive ourselves that without unity in our party, we can achieve the removal of the APC, which is even proving to be worse than we thought in its approach to democracy, bearing in mind recent happenings in Ekiti, where state apparatus was used in rigging the elections,” he said.

Represented by the National Coordinator, PDP @ Your Door Campaign Forum, Comrade Ibrahim Dahiru Danfulani who read out his speech, he said in view of that, the inauguration and sensitization lecture of the NUM, remains important in liberating Nigeria.

“This group is taking shape at the right time in the history of our country, when all responsible and patriotic citizens are seeking ways to sack the retrogressive and tyrannical All Progressives Congress (APC) led government at the centre and in almost all the states the party controls.

“The theme of this gathering, ‘Party Unity, Cohesion and Mobilization’ is apt and if we are all committed to it, a lot of progress would be made.

“We are all witnesses to the senseless killings going on in several parts of the country with the Federal Government always coming up with lame excuses, without admitting blames of failure to protect the lives and property of innocent Nigerians,” he said.

Maina however, explained that being a law abiding party, they are hopeful that the judiciary will restore their stolen mandate in Ekiti and put enemies of democracy to shame.

“Hence, unity of purpose is needed in ousting APC and that position makes NUM a very important group to our party, one that will bring together all irrespective of personal interests, so that we can all speak, move and take actions as one.

“Enemies of democracy, the APC has taken this nation 20 years back. While our great party made democratic and economic progress, they came on board and rubbished all the gains, taking us back to those dark days before PDP took over power from the military in 1999.

“We must all brace up and take our country back through the ballot. We must make Nigerians, especially the youth see that we are the best option,” he stressed.

He assured that at the national secretariat, under the able leadership of our National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus the party was making several efforts towards achieving all round victory in 2019.

“We commend NUM for its foresight and we assure you that we would support you,” he added.

The PDP Deputy Youth Leader condoled the people of Katsina and Nigeria entirely for the loss of an  the former Inspector General Police,  Ibrahim Coomassie, the  Sardaunan Katsina.

“His demise is a great loss and irreparable. I pray Almighty Allah grants him Aljanah Firdausi,” he added.

“I would also on a sad note, extend my sincere condolences to the Katsina State Government and people, as well as families of the 52 who lost their lives in the flood in the state. I also pray that those that are still missing, be found alive and in good health,” he prayed.
