Volleyball: Nimrod Optimistic Of World Female U-21 Championship Ticket

    President Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Engineer Musa Nimrod is optimistic that Nigeria would pick one of the four available tickets for the World U-21 Female Championship from the African U-20 Girls Championship billed for Kenya.
    He expressed this while fielding questions from newsmen at the Murtala Square, Kaduna on Wednesday, where 22 girls are currently camping.
    “I am confident they will get the ticket for U-21 world championship my desire is for Nigeria to be among four top so that they can pick ticket,” he said.
    NVBF President said that although their ambition is not to go there and pick the trophy, they  are hopeful they would do well.
     He explained that the present NVBF board is  undertaking developmental programme, that will see players graduate from junior to senior team.
    “80% 0f the girls that participated for the  U-17 competition in Cotonou are in this team.
    “We are giving them opportunity to go for this championship because they could not go for Africa Youth Games in Algiers,” he explained.
    Nimrod explained that next year there will be All Africa Games qualifiers and the same set of players would be there for Nigeria.
    He said though they cannot throw away the old players, they we will fuse the U-20 girls  into the senior team. “There must be a synergy.” He added.
