Mr. Emmanuel Essien Robson, a Governorship aspirant in the 2019 election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress – APC, has pledged to donate a state of the art incubation unit to the general hospital in Calabar.
Mr. Robson was in the hospital to visit Mrs Anthonia Ayi, who was delivered of a set of triplet.
The aspirant who was led during the visit by the Chief Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Dr. Etim Effiong Ayi, promised to support the hospital through his foundation, the Mani Robson foundation by donating major medical equipments needed for important medical services to the hospital.
While acknowledging efforts of the hospital management , he however insisted that the hospital could do more with the necessary equipments and qualified personnel.
” What I seen here leaves a lot to be desired. I am sure that the hospital can do more than it is with regard to even its physical appearance and also having the requisite department properly staffed with competent doctors and nurses. Also beyond this, I do feel that we have need to furnished the hospital with modern equipments that will be very useful in delivering state of the art health care services to the people” he said.
” I am hereby, in the presence of the chief medical suprintendent, making a donation of a modern state of the art new incubation unit for the hospital and this is going to he done through my foundation, the Mani Robson Foundation”
“If you were at my declaration, health care delivery was mentioned as one of the cardinal points that will form the direction of my administration . We will take a holistic look at revamping the health sector from the southern, central and northern senatorial district. We will also look at providing scholarship to some of our best students studying medical sciences in the tertiary institutions”
He maintained that his foundation was already talking with a health care consulting firm to supply some health care equipments to the hospital to make their work better.
“When I assume office in 2019, as the governor of Cross River State, I am going to set up a tink tank of qualified men and women of Cross River state to draw up a white paper and development direction for health care and health services because this is one of our priority point”
Mr. Robson who also promised to take care of the medical bills of the triplets and their mother until they leave the hospital assured the family that he will ensure the family will be well supported to get back on their feet once they are discharged from the hospital.
Earlier, Chief Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Dr. Etim Effiong Ayi expressed delight at the visit. Maintaining that such visit and the donation will go a long way take off the financial burden from the parents of the triplets.
Dr. Ayi said ” Nothing impresses any man like humility. Once you are humble, you can achieve anything. We are witnesses to what President (Emmanuel) Macron did when he came to Nigeria. He humbled and went everywhere even to Fela’s shrine. I believe, what he has done today, I am sure it has given him a little insight into what the hospital looks like and how he hopes to tackle the challenges if he is elected into office”
In his reaction, father of the triplet, Mr. Anthony Ayi expressed gratitude for such gesture and prayed God to bless the aspirant immensely.
