In view of his rising profile as as a politician, and the growing influence of his party, the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Dr. Polycarp Gankon has suffered assassination attempts and foiled  kidnaps.
Gankon disclosed this on Sunday, October 7, 2018, after accepting to fly the party’s flag as gubernatorial candidate for Kaduna State in 2019.
“Between 2015 to today, twice I have escaped assassination attempts as well as kidnap bids,” he said.
He described the state of things in Kaduna State as pathetic, but expressed optimism that APGA can turn things around.
“That is why we have come out to declare to Kaduna State and to this administration that enough is enough,” he added.
He stressed that with the growing influence and acceptance of the party in the state, they are attracting more aspirants
“The popularity APGA has today in Kaduna is overwhelming and they are already thinking of how they will buy us. I will not compromise standards because that is our resolve in APGA.
“But if you see the contestants coming behind me, you see young people because we have plans for the future. Come let’s work together,” he appealed.
In an interview with newsmen, Gankon said that first time he contested in 2015, he came third out of 15 contestants.
“When you fail, you learn and so today we are coming out to come first next time because we have learnt a lot from the mistakes and are better prepared to finish first .
“With the popularity we have now, I see us finishing first in 2019.
“Besides, today, I am a board of trustees member of APGA. In 2015, I contested alone. But today, we have over 20 other aspirants from Kaduna State,” he submitted.
Earlier, Panel Chairman of the election, Timothy Azuibuike, announced the returning of Deacon Polycarp Gankon  as its candidate for Kaduna Gubernatorial polls 2019 unnoposed.
All the delegates affirmed by raising up their hands to adopt Gankon.
The exercise was witnessed by thousands of his supporters and officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
