The seven states that make up the North West geopolitical zone will begin battle for qualification for nine events ahead of the National Sports Festival bilked for December in Abuja
According to a statement signed by the North West Zonal Coordinator, Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Olusola Luke, the events are; Abula, Basketball, Beach Soccer, Cricket and Football.
Others are Handball, Hockey, Volleyball and Para Soccer.
“This is to inform you and the general public that necessary preparations for the conduct of the North West Zonal Teams Sports Eliminations towards the 19th National Sports Festival has been concluded by the Zonal Sports Office,” it stated.
The statement informed that over 750 athletes and officials would converge on Kaduna for the elimination, billed to take place at two venues simultaneously.
The venues are the Ahmadu Bello Stadium and the Murtala Mohammed Square respectively.
According to the statement, the eliminations are scheduled to hold from October 14 to 28, 2018.
The seven states expected to feature are; hosts Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara.
