Delta Community Issues Govt 2 Weeks Ultimatum

    Ekiugbo Community in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State on Monday issued the Delta State Government a two weeks ultimatum to open and put into the use the Government Secondary School in their land, AUTHENTIC News Daily has gathered.
    The Community handed down the ultimatum during a peaceful protest on Monday.
    The protesters matched through Ekiugbo Community to the school’s premises before terminating at the palace of the Ovie of Ughelli Kingdom, HRM.(Dr.) Ojakovo Oharisi III.
    The Community protested over the failure to open the already completed Government Secondary School.
    The protesters chanted solidarity songs bearing placards with inscriptions,”Delta State Governor, why are our children already admitted to study at the newly built Government Secondary School Ekiugbo, Ughelli sitting at home.?”
    During the protests, there was hardly vehicular movements as commercial shops were shutdown as the Community pressed home their demands.
    President General as well as Youth Chairman of Ekiugbo Community, Comrade Ovwigho Emmanuel and Comrade .O. Oghenekaro said,”Government should not blame them for any action taken if the school is not opened.”
    The duo said all measures to ensure that the school is opened and put into use has proved abortive.
    They called on the Delta State Governor ,Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa to to as a matter of urgency put the school open and put the school to use so that their children to make teaching and learning enyobale for teachers and their children.
    The Government Secondary School has long bern completed but has not been put into use for many years.
    Addressing the protesters, the Ovie of Ughelli Kingdom, HRM. (Dr.)Ojakovo Oharisi III said,”I commend you for being peaceful. If something is wrong, you speak out but remain peaceful.”
    The monarch promised to work hand in hand with the Delta State Government saying,”We will call a meeting and ensure that the needful is done.”
