Kaduna: Shortage Of Okada, Commercial Buses Hit Sabon Tasha

    An acute shortage of commercial motorcyclists popularly known as Okada has hit several parts of Kaduna metropolis especially Sabon Tasha, in Chikun Local Government Area.

    AUTHENTIC News Daily observed that several civil servants from that axis got to work in the Central Business District got late to work as a result.

    Areas worst hit are Sabon Tasha GRA, Ungwan Dodo, Ungwan Bulus and Ungwan Matari.

    Also affected are Ungwan Biso, Ungwan Gimbiya and College Road axis.

    It was gathered that it takes about 45 minutes to trek to Kachia Road which is the central business area from where they board commercial buses to work.

    On getting to Kachia Road, it was further gathered that fares to Kaduna Central Business District, which ranged between N70 to N80 off peak period, after the crisis now goes for N100 off peak period,

    It was also reliably gathered that other parts of southern Kaduna metropolis are witnessing same hardship.

    One of those who spoke to our correspondent, blamed the scarcity of Okada and commercial buses to on the recent crisis that rocked the Kaduna metropolis.

    “We are suffering this because the Hausa people that come here to carry passengers have shunned the area,” he said.

    He was however, optimistic that with the peaceful atmosphere being experienced, business will go back to normal soon with efforts of the government.
