We’ve Not Slept For 3 Weeks, Etsu-Nupe Cries Out As Cultists Terrorize Delta Market

    The Etsu-Nupe of Warri and its environs, HRH. Alhaji Zuberu Mohammed Tajudeen on Tuesday said cultists on daily basis terrorize the popular Igbudu market and its Host Communities in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State.
    Alhaji Tajudeen made the assertion in a chat with newsmen in Warri.
    While thanking God for the DPO of A. Division Warri for his efforts and contributions,  he said that they now have peace and sleep with two eyes closed.
    He said before now,  sometime’s three weeks ago many people who come to buy and sell in the market have been injured by the cultists.
    But with the intervention of the DPO A Division, things are going on well in the market.
    “Before now the cultists round people up, collect their bags, money with dangerous weapons and they even rob with guns.”
    Alhaji said for the past three weeks, the people in  Igbudu Community No. 1&2, Hausa Quarters as well as Nupe have not slept for the past three weeks as a result of cult activities.
    Etsu Nupe further appreciated the good work of the DPO A. Division Warri,  the Army B Compeny under 3 Batalion for restoring peace back to Igbudu Market Warri.

    He stressed, “We used to live in fear because of these cult members who attack, rob traders in the market and even residents who stay near the market.

    “Anytime, they’re coming, they are more than 50 in number. You see people locking up their shops so that it will not be looted. You see people running. If you have a phone, God help you if they don’t collect it.”
    The Nupe Chief appealed to the Delta State Government to help them address the insecurity especially with the cult matters in the area.
    According to Alhaji Tajudeen, “Government should put an embargo on this matter. They should make a law that whoever they see in this type of action and caught, should be dealt with.”
    Alhaji Tajudeen called on parents to hold and advice their children from involving in cult activities stressing that,”Anyone caught in cult activities, armed robbery or other criminal acts will be seriously dealt with and be killed.”
    He noted that a Joint Patrol Team has been formed by the various Communities to check the activities of cultists in the area.
    “The leaders of Igbudu Community No. 2 Chairmen, Mr. Julius Edafeadjebre, I the Etsu-Nupe of Warri with Executive and his own Executive with the Soldiers guiding the market with the vigilantes guiding in Hausa Quarters and Igbudu No. 2, even Igbudu Community No.1 we have come together and have what we call a Joint Patrol Team in which anybody they see that is involved in all these matter, they will get him and he will be punished immediately.”
