The President candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has promised to bring an end to banditry and blood letting activities in Zamfara State and other parts of the country, if elected President.
Atiku gave the assurance on Monday in Gusau during the PDP Presidential rally in Zamfara State.
He blamed the current down turn of the economy of Zamfara State on the activities of bandits, cattle rustlers, kidnappers and other criminals which he said keep abetting due to bad leadership in the state and country.
“Zamfara is known for its agricultural prowess but the sector which is the mainstay of the state has been paralyzed but insecurity, I am assuring you that if PDP is elected we shall end insecurity in the state and country, he said.
Atiku who apologised for coming a bit late blamed his lateness on the lack of airport in the state.
“PDP government in the state with support from PDP led federal government will build a modern airport for Zamfara state to easy movement in and out of the state”, he said.
PDP national chairman, Prince Uche Secondus said the adoption of Atiku Abubakar by elders and leaders from all parts of the country is an indication that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has failed.
Secondus warned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies in the country to ensure that the elections are credible, free and fair as anything short of that will cause havoc in the country.
“If the elections is not free and fair it will not be acceptable”, he warns.
He presented the PDP flag to the Zamfara state governorship candidate, Alhaji Bello Mohammed Matawalle.
