NGO Urges NSA To Investigate Yari’s Threat To Elections

    The Northern Youths Assembly (NYA), Zamfara State chapter, has urged the National Security Adviser (NSA) to investigate the outburst of Governor Abdul-Aziz Yari to stop election in the state, if his party, APC was excluded.

    The NYA chairman, Mannir Haidarsa said in a statement that, the intervention of the NSA became necessary in view of the gravity of the outburst to the national security.

    According to the statement, office of the NSA should not it such utterances from the governor lightly, as his action if allow  unchecked  could jeopardize security situation not only Zamfara state but the country at large.

    Haidara further said that, “If Yari was sincere about what is happening in Zamfara state, he should have seek for redress in the competent court of law and never to be using opportunities to be insulting respected personalities in the country”.

    According to him, considering the gravity of the Governor’s threat, the  Civil Society Organizations, based in the state, have been concern about the situation and called for more attention from office of the NSA.

    “Ours as CSOs was just to monitor the actions and in-actions of the government and raise alarm where necessary”, he added.

    The NYA said, the position of the INEC on Zamfara APC was very clear and if the Governor had any issue with the verdict of Justice Ojukwu led Federal High Court Abuja he should politely institute an appeal but not to resort to character assassination and insult.

    The statement however, condemned the recent outburst of the Governor, saying ” it was not the true reflection of the will of the Zamfara people, as people of the state are peace loving and law abiding.
