Zamfara NOA Tasks Traditional Rulers On Peaceful Elections

    The National Orientation Agency (NOA), Zamfara state has urged traditional rulers in the state to sensitize their people on the need to be peaceful during the forthcoming general election.

    The state NOA Director, Alhaji Hadi Yahya who made plea in Gusau, Zamfara state, said traditional rulers as leaders in the society ought to have engage in mass mobilisation of their people to be law abiding.

    According to him, people should not take politics as do or die affairs, therefore, opinion leaders should embark on mass enlightenment on the electoral laws.

    “Traditional and religious leaders ought to engage in mass mobilisation again at violation of elect oral process as anybody caught in the act would face wrath of the law”, he added.

    In his response, emir of Anka and chairman state council of chiefs, Alhaji Attahir Ahmad commended NOA for its concern for peaceful conduct of the forthcoming elections.

    The monarch however, reiterated the commitment of the traditional and opinion leaders to partner with NOA, in promoting peace in the country.

    He also asked youths to conduct peacefully during election days, as well as resist any temptation to cause confusion at the polls.
