NURHI Begins Two-Day Workshop On Strengthening Media On Budget Analysis, Monitoring

    The Nigerian Urban Reproductive Health Initiatives (NURHI) has commenced a two-day workshop for Kaduna based media practitioners on knowledge of the budget and how it works.

    The training, titled, Budget Monitoring Analysis and Score Card System Training commenced on Thursday March 14, and has media practitioners from new and traditional media as well as some select members of the civil society in attendance.
    Speaking at the opening, Iliya Kure of Africa Media Development Foundation (AMDF) said that the objectives of the training include strengthening the capacity of the media forum for sustainable budget analysis, monitoring, performance, and reporting.
    “Over the years, NURHI 2 has built the capacity of journalists on family planning advocacy and systems support involving both traditional and new media,” he said.
    Speaking further, he said that in the last leg of NURHI 2 intervention, media forum’s capacity would be built on budget analysis, monitoring, performance and reporting to support optimization of media policy dialogue and advocacy for improved family planning resource mobilisation.
    Mr. Kure also guided the participants through budget work experience sharing, where they recalled reports done on budget in the past and impact it made if any.
