A call has been made for all residents of Kaduna State to keep praying for the existence of equal rights and justice, without which peaceful coexistence may be affected.
CAN Secretary, Kachia LGA, Kaduna State, Reverend Ayuba Dikko Dongonyaro made the appeal in his remarks at the Second Strategic Town Hall Meeting on Promoting Peaceful 2019 General Elections, on Wednesday March 20, 2019 in Kaduna.
“I call on all of us to continue to pray. Let’s pray for our leaders our prayers will continue to impact on our leaders.
“Let’s pray for equal rights and justice because without justice there cannot be peace,” he submitted.
Speaking further at the meeting organised by Christian Aid International in partnership with the African Centre For Leadership, Strategy and Development (Centre LSD), with support from START Network, he said the programme was educative.
“We have learnt a lot on peace building. We have also used same in educating our people in importance of peace,” he added.
In his goodwill message, Rabiu Suleiman of the JNI Kachia LGA thanked organisers for the meetings which he said, contributed to the peaceful polls before and after.
He said the meetings were important and they have learnt a lot, adding that the engagement contributed to the peaceful polls.
In his remarks, Programme Coordinator, African Centre For Leadership, Strategy and Development (Centre LSD), Mr. Uche Arisuku, said they were delighted with the success recorded.
“Our big story is that Kaduna is peaceful and there was no violence from the elections.
“Unlike in 2015, the media which we trained here in a separate workshop for two days were very responsible as their reports changed. They contributed in dousing tension,” he said.
The town gall meeting was themed, ‘Mitigating Violence During The Electoral Process in Kaduna State’.
Religious, youth and traditional rulers from three focal communities of Kachia, Sabon Tasha and Mando were represented at the town hall meeting.
