A passionate appeal has been made to President Muhammad Buhari to be personally present at the final of the Daily Trust President Pro-Am Golf Tournament, when the date is fixed.
Member of Board of Trustees of the Kaduna Golf Club, Sir Lucky Omoluwa made the appeal during the ceremonial tee off of the semi final of the tournament in Kaduna on Saturday, March 30, 2019.
“We do not know when the final will come, but I would love to crave the indulgence of the president to attend the final,” he added.
He said that Kaduna is a friendly ground and has so far, has attracted the largest number of entrants.
“In Kaduna we are family. We didn’t get two hundred entrants anywhere but in Kaduna, it shows that Kaduna is friendly. In Benin we had 120 entrants, In Ibadan we had 90, it shows people are keying in,” he added.
Sir Omoluwa who is the Chairman of Pinnacle Communications, commended the sponsors for their contributions to sports development.
“I will like to thank the Chairman of Daily Trust, Kabiru Yusuf and the MD, Munir Dan Ali for this sponsorship. We have gone round six zones and here we are doing the semi finals,” he added.
In his remarks before the tee-of, Captain Kaduna Golf Club, praised Daily Trust for reviving the President Tournament, 12 years after its inactivity.
“What we are witnessing is the tee-off for the qualifiers of the President Cup. For a long time, it was not been played, Daily Trust Newspapers decided to grab and hold the bull by its horn and decided to sponsor this after 12 years. Qualifiers played in 6 geo political zones,” he said.
KGC Captain also thanked the Chairman and Managing Director of Daily Trust, Kabir Yusuf and Minor Dan Ali respectively, for choosing their club to host the semi finals.
He praised member of its board of trustees, Sir Omoluwa for been a pillar to the club.
“To chair this occasion, nobody deserves it better. Everybody knows Sir Lucky Babatundae Omoluwa. Kaduna Golf Club is so lucky to have someone like him on its board of trustees.
“He has been carrying this club forward. There is no time I approach him, and not get 100 per cent response.
“Sir Lucky Omoluwa got this invitation yesterday evening by 4:30pm and he said he was on his way, he arrived here exactly 8:30pm.
“If you look at Hole 7, he has taken over. If you look at the club house, you will also see the signature of Sir Lucky Omoluwa who renovated it,” he added.
