The Zamfara State Chapter of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, has bemoaned the spate of insecurity in the state.
Speaking at the May Day celebration in Gusau, Zamfara state capital, NLC chairman, Comrade Bashir Mafara lamented that,the act of banditry had crippled the state socially and economically.
“We have lost and continue loosing a number of our able men to senseless armed bandits”, he added.
He however, lauded Governor Abdul-Aziz Yari for promising to pay the new minimum wage to the workers.
Governor Abdul Aziz Yari Abubakar assured civil servants of his commitment to be among the first state that would start implementing minimum wage of #30.000 in the state.
The Governor who was represented by the secretary to the state government, professor Abdullahi Mohammed Shinkafi maintained that to pay minimum wage, pension and gratuity is easier when civil servants are sincere to themselves.
” We must be sincere,fair and must remove out those who are not genuine workers on the government payroll”.
On the activities of armed banditry,the Governor explained that to fight the menace,all hands must be on deck ,”it should be a collective responsibility by all stakeholders “.
