Emefiele Has Reduced Importation Of Rice, Others Drastically – Farmers

    Farmers under the auspices of All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) in the South-South region and the herders/crop farmers on Thursday said the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Godwin Emefiele and his team have reduced the importation of rice and other commodities drastically.

    The farmers said this has created employment for the youths all over the Country through agriculture with the wealth of farmers and “conserving of foreign exchange.”

    The assertion was made in a statement signed and made available to AUTHENTIC News Daily by its National Public Relations Officer, Elder Eugene Jacob.

    The farmers noted that the importance of agriculture cannot be overemphasized, the farmers especially in the area of diversification of the economy from oil.

    According to the farmers,”Mr. Godwin Emefiele took agriculture to a greater height and reducing the agricultural commodities importation by financing the agricultural sector through Commercial banks.

    “This has reduced the level of poverty among small-scale holder farmers and has assisted rural small scale farmers to grow.

    ” The establishment if Anchor Borrower Programme helped to stop the importation of commodities and created the needed employment in all the States of the Federation. CBN had been agriculturally friendly since Emefiele’s tenure.”

    The farmers appreciated President Muhammadu Buhari for reappointing Mr. Godwin Emefiele as Governor of the the Central Bank of Nigeria,CBN for a second term.

    They also acknowledged Mr. Emefiele’s good works saying,”his effort and progress works so far on agriculture , job and wealth creation for millions of people including food security all over the States during your first tenure is appreciated by farmers.”

    The farmers noted that that Nigeria was plagued with the issues of population, explosion, unemployment and food scurity.”
