Suspected Phone Thief Set Ablaze In Delta

    An angry mob has set ablaze a man allegedly a phone thief in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government council area of Delta State. .
    AUTHENTIC News Daily  learnt that the incident occurred at about 7am on Sunday.

    The man was burnt to death by the angry mob in the area as part of (jungle justice)

    Sources said that “the suspect snatched the phone of a woman, (name, unknown) outside the Delta Mall Effurun premises and was running towards the bush path very close to the mall, when  angry Mob chased him,  got hold of him, beat him up to the point that they instantly set him ablaze”.
    A trader who buys and sells wristwatches at the Effurun roundabout (name withheld) told AUTHENTIC  News Daily as at the time they got there, that the incident “Happened on Sunday morning here. As he was running, the people around pursued and caught him. After serious beating, they put tyre on him and set him on fire. They burnt him alive near were those buses are parked. 
    “The dead body was  removed away from there yesterday,” 
    Another man, Mr Chuks Ifeyinwa, confirm the story when he said “I was on my way to church and i saw the alleged thief being set ablaze for “stealing a lady’s phone”. 
    When AUTHENTIC  News Daily got to the scene on Wednesday for more information, a bystander, (name Mrs Mabel Sunday Said “i have witnessed a robbery attack on some people who were just returning from a business trip in the same area.
    She also said that “this area as from 10pm is not safe ” this place is a dead zone at night,” she called for security operatives to be drafted/stationed here in this area in order to reduce attacks on unsuspecting persons.
    When contacted for comment and confirmation  of the report the Commissioner of police, Delta State, CP Adeyinka Adeleke said. “that matter was not reported to the police. I called Ekpan police Division, but nobody reported it. Some one called me about the story if am aware. And I also read it in one of the newspaper yesterday, Mr Adeleke Adeyinka said”.
