Be Responsive To Duty, Subordinates, Buratai Tasks 23 Promoted Senior Army Officers

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai has on Tuesday November 19, 2019 decorated 23 newly promoted senior officers to their next rank, while charging them to remain responsive to the new responsibilities of their new responsibilities.

Buratai who admonished the officers to remain responsive to the troops, challenges that will come their way, responsive to administration, duty and responsive to training needs of the unit.

He therefore, charged them to remain steadfast and resolute in the discharge of their duties.

According to him, “General rank in every Army carries a lot of responsibilities.You are now a problem solver. You have grown above identifying problems only. You must solve any problem that emanate in the course of discharging your constitutional roles. Every decision you take from now have repercussion not only on the Nigerian Army but the country at large”, he said.

Speaking earlier, the Chief of Defence Intelligence, Air Vice Marshal Mohammed Salisu Musa advised promoted Officers to expect more responsibilities as they attained another level in their endeavour.

He said, “promotion comes with other responsibilities, to whom much is given, much is being expected ”.

He therefore urged them to uphold the doctrine of the service.

The Chief of Policy and Plan (COPP), ‘Army’ Lieutenant General Lamidi Adeosun described their promotion as an act of God while charging them to be loyal and more dedicated in the service of their fatherland.

Adeosun while congratulating the affected officers, called on them to be considerate in taking any decision that will be beneficial to NA and the nation.

The decorated officers were 22 colonels promoted to the rank of Brigadier Generals while 1 Brigadier General was promoted to Major General.

Among the decorated senior officers are Brigadier General AL Lawal who is promoted to the rank of Major General. Others are Colonels M Galadima, HU Ande, T Isah, F Ikomi, AL Okpodu , AOD Okoro , ASM Wase, TB Ugiagbe and B P Koughna among those who were promoted to the rank of Brig Generals.

In his vote of thanks on behalf of the beneficiaries, Major General AL Lawal thanked the COAS for finding them worthy to be promoted to the next rank and assured him of their dedication and loyalty to the service and the nation.

The occasion was well attended by Principal Officers from Army Headquarters, Commanders , family members and well wishers.
