Infants Born With Ear Defects To Get Free Screening From Ear Care Centre – CMD

    The National Ear Center in Kaduna State has announced that by next year, it will flag-off a progaramme towards screening the ears of infants born with ears ailment.

    The Medical Director of the Center, Dr. Abubakar Mustapha disclosed this on Monday while speaking to newsmen shortly after he paid an official visit to Barau Dikko Specialist Hospital billed to commence the exercise.

    According to him,“ We are hoping that by next year especially at the quota of next we will commence this programme here in Kaduna state God’s willing, adding that the progrmme is free of charge.”

    He added that even people at the rural areas of the state that their infants experience problem with their hearing organs, would not be excluded in the exercise as they easily bring their infants that are suppering from hearing.

    He explained that, “We are at Barrau Dikko Hospital because we want flag-off a programme that will screen infants Ears that were born with Ear ailments as well as, to ensure that their organs of hearing is functional and if it is not to take the next line of action.”

    According to him,” This is because now we have qualitative equipment’s on ground that well assist to determined whether the infants organs of hearing is functional or not.”

    Abubakar Mustapha further explained that, “We want commence the exercise at Barau Dikko Hospital before we proceed to other Hospitals in the state, adding that we want to run the exercise for concurrently for six months and it is free of charge so that to see how the result will be.”

    He noted that, if we discovered that a parcular infant has a problem of hearing, we will diagnosed his ears and install an instrument inside his so that he grows up hearing and talking.

    “ We are hoping that by next year especially at the quota of next we will commence this programme here in Kaduna state God’s willing, adding even people at the rural areas of the state, would not be excluded in the exercise as they easily bring their infants that are suppering from hearing.”
