Worried about what it termed as persistent attacks on its communities in a guerrilla warfare, the Gbagyi Youth Progressive Union (GYPU) has called on communities to brave up and expose bad eggs collaborating with crimal groups perpetrating mayhem on their communities.

The call was made at a press briefing by the group, in a text of the briefing signed by its chairman, Malam Ibrahim Ayuba Wadason made available to our correspondent on Wednesday, January 8, 2020.

“But yet again, we are saying it loud, anyone who knows a neighbour, friend, or relative who is partnering, assisting or collaborating with this terrorist group in perpetrating this mayhem, we should inform and expose such bad eggs,” it appealed.

In the text if the briefing titled, “BE PROACTIVE AND SAVE OUR COMMUNITIES FROM ATTACKS: GBAGYI YOUTH TASK GOVERNMENT AND SECUIRTY AGENCIES”  they said that, it has become crucial that they address the press and let known our plight to the world, in which over the last few days, communities in Chikun LGA and Brinin Gwari LGA where Gbagyi natives reside predominantly have been under siege. Alleged bandits, parading as gunmen have unleashed terror on innocent villagers.

“In what can be described as an guerilla warfare, these armed men storm villages in Katarma, Gadani, Kugo, Kaso, Rumanan Gbagyi, Badna and Malamo shooting sporadically, burning down houses and taking hostages for ransom.

“These barbaric act has led to the death of some communities members and as well as lost of lives and properties. Currently, about 30 persons have been kidnapped from these communities, three persons were killed yesterday in Kaso Village named, Mr. Eli Sule, Danjuma Garba and Istifanus Auta, we pray for the repose of their souls and for those held hostage, we pray for their freedom from the hand of this terrorist.

“We are not ignorant of the fact that there have been relatively sustained peace and restoration of security in this axis in the last few months, which we commend the Kaduna State Government and all the security agencies that were engaged in the task of restoring peace in our troubled communities,” the group said.

The group further said that it finds it intriguing and shocking the way this terrorists have reinforced, spread and taken hostage in their communities again.

“Our plea today is straightforward, we call on the Kaduna State Government, all relevant security agencies and stakeholders managing the security affairs of our state to be more proactive and put in necessary efforts in restoring peace and securing trouble parts of our communities.

“The supreme duty of the government is the protection of lives and properties of its citizens, may it not be that at a time when Gbagyi people needed the government the most, the government on its part, turns its back on the people.

“To our natives whom have found themselves in such an unfortunate situation, we share in your pains, we grief with you, and our most sincere prayers are with you,” the group added.

They called on community leaders, religious leaders and youth leaders to be more vigilant and share crucial information that will be of help to security agencies.

“Lastly, we wish to commend the security agencies and the Kaduna State Government for the prompt response to distress calls, while they continue exploring ways of restoring total peace, we assure them of our unwavering support and commitment,” they concluded.
