Service Efficiency: Kaduna Electric Board Gives Staff Marching Order

The Board of Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company has ordered the staff of the Company to improve the service efficiency level of the Company, warning that inefficiency, indolence, misconduct or poor service delivery shall no longer be tolerated.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors, Alhaji Yusuf Hamisu Abubakar made the charge yesterday while declaring open the 2020 Strategy Retreat for Board members, senior executives and middle level managers of the Company in Kaduna.

A statement by the Head, Corporate Communication of the Company, Abdulazeez Abdullahi quoted the Chairman as saying that “failure or poor performance is not an option this year as the Board shall not hesitate to relieve any staff found wanting of his or her appointment”.

Alhaji Yusuf Hamisu Abubakar expressed optimism in the capacity and ability of the Company’ staff to provide efficient services to it customers, also charged the workers to ensure that all revenue due to the Company are collected and remitted accordingly.

“The Board is committed to making investment in critical areas with the view to improving the quality of power supply in our franchise this year, this will call for more commitment and dedication to your respective duties and above all, every electricity user must be registered and billed accordingly”, he said.

In a related development, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Engineer Garba Haruna has directed the Area Managers to monitor and ensure that all Meter Asset Providers, MAPs operating in the franchise of Kaduna Electric live up to their contractual obligations and any infraction is reported for necessary action.

“The customers’ centric policy of the Company must be driven to the latter, delivering efficient electricity services is our business and we must do it well; you must ensure that every kwh received is accounted for and every kobo collected is remitted, he asserted”.

He also instructed that “all list of customers willing to obtain meters through the Meter Asset Providers scheme should be compiled and submitted immediately to enable us push the MAPs to make the meters available”.

Engr. Garba Haruna also disclosed that the Company has put in place all necessary machinery to ensure full compliance with the NERC regulation on cashless transactions and charged customers of the Company to desist from giving cash to staff to pay their bills for them.
