Ashamed Hospital Provides Free Vaccine To 1,000 Kaduna Police Officers, Relations

Ashmed Specialist Hospital, Kudenda in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, has offered free vaccine to 1,000 police officers and their relations.

The Medical Director of the hospital, Dr Patrick Echobu, disclosed this while speaking to the media on Thursday.

According to him, the patients were freely screened and vaccine were administered to those of them who have Hypertitis and Yellow Fever.

He added that services were part of its Coorperate Social Responsibility to the host community.

Dr Echobu further said the Nigerian Police, as an agent of security are doing much to secure lives and property in the state, hence, they need to be supported.

The Medical Director said the edifice offered certain services such as: modern medical service, surgery, gynaecology, automated laboratory service and antenatal.

He however expressed dismay about the medical tourism embarked upon by Nigerians outside the shores of the country, saying some of the ailments could be treated within the country.

Dr Echobu, revealed that one of the cardinal points of his establishment is to reduce medical tourism by providing modern equipment and personnel.

“Last week someone billed for surgery in China was referred to us and we successful performed the surgery and he was discharged.

“I called on other professional colleagues to strive hard to reduce medical tourism. It is not an individual effort but joint efforts,” he said.

Speaking on the recent Lassa Fever, Echobu said the best protection is personal and environmental hygiene.
