The Kogi State Focal Person, National Social Investment Programme (SIP) and former SA to Governor Yahaya Bello  on Job Creation, Honourable Abdulkareem  Onyekehi Suleiman has Urged governor’s in the country to emulate his State governor’s drive at empowering youth.

He gave the charge in Kaduna at the weekend, after he was presented with an award by Arewa Youth Elites Initiative Forum,.

“Governor Yahaya Bello has provided a platform for youth to make a difference. He has given us the opportunity to prove that and so far, we have not disappointed. We are not going to relent on our efforts,” he assured.

He informed that he was a committee member in agriculture that has created 6,000 jobs in the state, as well as  the health ministry that created thousands of  jobs.

He  therefore, appealed  to other governors to emulate Governor Yahaya Bello  in their various states to give such opportunities to youth.

“We thank God today, Kogi is one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria as a result of jobs created for youth who may have taken to crime as a result of idleness.

“I am happy I am in your age bracket. In the past, someone like me has not been given such appointment. I am the second ranking appointee in the LGA I hail from.

“It is a source of encouragement to do more. To motivate the youth to do more,” he submitted.

Honourable Suleiman appreciated the award presented and dedicated it to the teeming youth of Kogi State and his LGA.

On a request by the group to visit, he explained that though the governor is always busy in his bid to making Kogi the best in Nigeria, he would approach him to create time to host the forum in Lokoja.

“You know our governor is very busy, there was no time to work on a visit, but I will talk to his Excellency,” he assured.

Comrade Mukhtar Zubairu earlier, said that before they present such awards, they identify individuals after  seeing the zeal of the beneficiary irrespective of the party he or she belongs to.

“It is time for the youth to take over affairs, unlike some leaders that cannot even operate an android phone. We need to appreciate the youth.

“When I met him this morning, he was operating his laptop on the bed, how many of the older leaders can do so. He was virtually operating  his office from the room. We need more of that,” he said

Also present at the award presentation, were some executives of the forum; National Secretary, Habibu Musa, National Women Leader, Hajiya Habiba Suleiman, National Publicity Secretary, Martins Onu Adejo, State Chairman Kaduna, Comrade Mustapha Zubairu Raka and State Secretary, Comrade Aminu Nuhu.
