Outstanding Athletes In Kaduna To Get State Government Scholarship – Deputy Governor

The importance attached to sports, the Kaduna State Government is providing incentives of scholarship to students who distinguish themselves in sporting events.

Deputy Governor of Kaduna State, Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe disclosed this while declaring open the 6th Kaduna State Sports Festival at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna on Monday March 2, 2020. 

“To provide incentives, the state has instituted special scholarship for those who excel in sports,” she declared.

The deputy Governor said that as a government, they realize the Importance of sports in promoting socio economic development of state,  hence they will keep giving the Sports Development Ministry support to ensure the  festival is annual.

“Winners of this 6th sports festival  will be representing our state in National Sports Festival (NSF), coming up in Edo later this month,” she added.

The Deputy Governor stressed that the government’s objectives of sports is to enable young athletes in the state to find national and international space to exhibit talents.

“Sports generally enhances academic performance of students, they are also most likely not to use drugs and do not drop out of school.

“Sports unites people as such a driving force that makes us commence providing sporting facilities in all public schools.

“Starting from today to Saturday, Kaduna residents have opportunity to come and relish sporting events,” she said.

She charged all local government chairmen  to support events at the grassroots to ensure all round development.

“Let me call on corporate organisations and public spirited individuals to come and partner us in ensuring this sports festival is sustained annually,” she appealed.
