A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Stakeholder, Irmiya (Jerry) Garba of Garun Kurama Ward in Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State has revealed that the Saturday’s Ward Congress has recorded a hitch free excercise.
According to him, the turn out was impressive as party members and loyalists thronged the venue in order to exercise their franchise of electing the ward chairman of the party.
The election describes as transparent was conducted by a three-member committee; Maigamo Umaru – PDP LG Secretary, Yohanna Dariya – LG Ex-Officio and Dogara H. Chiroma – PDP Garun Kurama Ward Chairman.
He said the aspirants who contested for the Ward Chairmanship were Silas Ago Bari (Piti), Jonathan Bamso (Piti) and Ibrahim Korau Hassan (Hausa/Fulani), noting that Mr. Silas Ago Bari (Piti) later stepped down for Ibrahim Korau Hassan.
The election ended up with over 450 votes going to Ibrahim Korau Hassan and ninety per cent of the votes he said went to him.
However, aspirants Maigamo Umaru and Yohanna Dariya disappeared leaving only Dogara Haukuri Chiroma at the premises of the ward’s party office, accepting defeat from Ibrahim.
A ward party stalwart said Ibrahim Korau Hassan is therefore returned elected as the substantive ward chairman.
