Enugu Youth Coalition has debunked a trending video on the social media alleging that nurses were protesting over lack of medical equipments in Enugu State.

In a statement released to newsmen in Enugu by the group’s national coordinator, Dr. Edwin Obune, the coalition said the video was manufactured by mischief makers to distract the state government in the ongoing fight against the spread of coronavirus in the state.

“No doubt, the huge resources and great personnel deployed into the assignment by the state government has made containment of the disease possible in Enugu State.

“Such feat have brought great  recognition to the state among states in Nigeria.

“Therefore, one is not surprised to see a manufactured and distorted video of some nurses in a neighbouring state shouting ‘No working material for nurses’ been presented to mean Enugu State in the trending video.

“If it was a protest in Enugu as mischief makers would want us to believe, where were their placards with protesting inscriptions against the state in the said video?

“It is however unfortunate that at the time groups and individuals are busy making donations to support the effort of government to fight the spread of COVID-19 in other states, politicians and their collaborators in Enugu State are busy manufacturing lies and concocting tales against the state government so as to distract it from winning the war against coronavirus in the state.

“We therefore warn the scallywags behind the fake news to desist from such acts and join hands to with government to eradicate the pandemic from the state.

“We assert this because Enugu State is in the Hands of God!”
