    Seyi Makinde government has been dealt a big blow following the death of Kehinde Ayoola, commissioner for environment and natural resources

    The 55-year-old late former lawmaker was reported to have died after a two-week battle with an undisclosed illness

    Governor Makinde, who confirmed Ayoola’s death, described the former Speaker as a loyal friend “who will be sorely missed for his great oratory skills”.

    Kehinde Ayoola, Oyo state commissioner for environment and natural resources, is dead following a two-week battle with an undisclosed illness.

    The news of his death was confirmed by Governor Seyi Makinde who took to microblogging platform Twitter on Thursday, May 14, to announce the passing of the commissioner. He was 55.

    “I received with deep sadness, the news of the death of my dear friend and colleague, Rt. Honourable Kehinde Ayoola.

    “Up until his death this morning, he served as the Honourable Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources in Oyo state,” Governor Makinde said.I received with deep sadness, the news of the death of my dear friend and colleague, Rt.     He was born on January 14 in Oyo town and attended Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife where he studied Animal Science and Environmental Management and Control.

    Between 1999 and 2003, the late commissioner represented Oyo East state constituency at the state House of Assembly. He was the speaker in 1999.

    According to Oyo governor, he met late Rt. Honourable Ayoola in 2002, when they worked together as members of the Fortune Group for the election of Senator Rasheed Ladoja.

    Paying a heartfelt tribute, Governor Makinde described the late commissioner, as “a loyal friend with a dedication to duty that cannot be questioned.”
