Secretary to the State Government and Chairman EXCO Committee on Market Administration, Dr. Ugbala Kenneth Igwe, on Friday May 22, 2020 announced that June 1 deadline approved by Ebonyi State Government for relocation of Building Material and Aluminum Market to their permanent site along the Abakaliki/Afikpo highway is sacrosanct.
Dr. Ugbala Kenneth, made this known when he was constituting subcommittee on market movement selected from various unions of building material, wielder and aluminum market, said that the relocating the traders from old building materials market to their new site became imperative to decongest Spera In-deo Junction of the inconveniences associated with the market location and also enhance the aesthetics of the environment.
“In line with Ebonyi State Government directive, the movement of building material to their new site should commence on or before 1st June, 2020. The reason for today’s meeting is that we don’t want tostart chasing you around in the process of this movement. We want as Government to handover the relocation to you while we supervise it because of the rapport existing between you and Ebonyi State Government” he maintained.

Deacon Kenneth Igwe, advised traders to establish security post, perimeter fence, car park, eatery, borehole, convenience, position for Generator Set or Transformer and banking hall (mobile bank) if possible, inside the market for easy of doing business in the area.
He charged them to be more committed and work closely with the State EXCO Committee and report every challenge confronting their relocation promptly.
The Secretary to the State Government maintained that the committee will meet on a regular basis to enunciate the processes and strategies that will help Government to avoid making mistake that would ruin the market when completed.

In his remarks, Mr. Frank Agwu, on behalf of the newly inaugurated committee members of building material and aluminum market, expressed satisfaction with the State Government for the confidence reposed on them and promised that they will work harmoniously with EXCO Committee on Market Administration, in order to deliver on the trust bestowed on them.
EXCO Committee on market administration that was present in the event included Commissioner for Commerce and Industry Chief Donatus NJoku, Commissioner for Internal Security, border Peace and Conflict Resolution, Chief Stanley Okoro-Emegha, SA to the Governor on Environment, Mr Sunday Ugwuocha and SA to the Governor on Market, Mr. Kerian Ofoke.
