How Religious Leaders Reacted On Church Resumption Announcement In Ebonyi

    Christian faithful in Ebonyi State have given accolades to the state governor, Engineer David Umahi as he relaxed lockdown on religious activities across the state that were banned  over a month ago due to the scourge of CoronaVirus.


    They made their minds known while interacting with AUTHENTIC News Daily reporter in Abakaliki, revealing their level of readiness in compliance of  the measure put in place by the state government to combat the escalation of the virus, said that they will  pray fervently to avert the  deadly disease in the state describing Umahi as man after God’s own heart. 
    Speaking, the Bishop of Anglican Diocese, Bishop Monday Nkwegu, described the reopening of church services as a great reunion and thanked Umahi for the kind gesture. 
    In his words,” I want to thank His Excellency the governor for giving us opportunity to summon again in the house of God, I want to tell him that we are solidly behind all the measures adopted in the fight against the virus because of that, in our own we will be pattnering with them in a very serious way by sensitizing our members to be able to keep the precautionary measures strictly to save their lives and lives of communities”.
    He said that he will never relent in providing face masks, hand sanitizers among others to curtail the virus and expressed hope that with all the  measures the virus will soon go finally.
    The chairman of Pentecostal fellowship of Nigeria and pastor in charge of house of kings and priest, Abakaliki  Dr. Wilberforce Oti appreciated God for his mercy to his children and expressed optimism that with the prayers of children of God COVID-19 would soon be a thing of history.
    However, the Assistant Pastor,  Assemblies of God Church, Rev. Emmanuel Nwogu, said that the congregations were delighted that the religious worship has been relaxed by the pragmatic leader of Ebonyi State, David Umahi promising to abide by the directed precautionary measures such as wearing of face mask, use of hand sanitizers and as well as maintaining of personal and environmental hygiene.
    Adding his voice, the Executive Chairman of Abakaliki Local Government, Hon. Emmanuel Nwangele, charged Christians to consistently observed all the measures put in place to curb the pandemic, while admonishing all community leaders never  to hesitate in reporting all illegal returnees in their various areas to safeguard the life of Ebonyians.
    He called on the Muslim and Christian communities in the state not to abuse the opportunity giving to them to avoid risking total lockdown and thanked Governor Umahi for lifting the ban.
    It is recall that Ebonyi State Government recently ordered the shut down of all religious activities in the area which is in line with the World Health Organization (WHO) measure to curb the spread of pandemic disease Corona virus.
