National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has donated relief materials to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) of gunmen attack in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The IDPs where displaced by gunmen who invaded Gonar Rogo and Makyali villages on May 12.
North West Zonal Coordinator of the agency, Imam Garki, while distributing the items expressed the Federal Government’s concern to the plight of the displaced persons in the state, and assured them of continuous support.
He said the agency had carried out assessment of the damages which the Federal government has made provision of food and non food items to 440 housholds of communities affected.
Garki, said the relief materials included 440 bags of rice, beans , Maize, 22 bags of salt, 44 kegs of vegetable oil, 78 cartons of tin tomatoes, 44 cartons of seasoning, 880 pieces of Guinea brocade, 880 mattrasses, 880 nylon mats, 1320 blankets, mosquito nets and 880 buckets.
Maimunatu Abubakar, Executive Secretary, Kaduna state Emergency Management Agency (KADSEMA) encouraged the people to embrace peace as without peace there will be no development.
” From our stakeholders meeting we have discovered that the people are peace loving and have pleaded that the items donated be extended to other communities affected.”
She urged people in the area to be calm, assuring that the government was making concerted efforts to check the menace.
In his remarks, Cafra Caino, Chairman Kajuru LGA, commended the prompt and timely response of NEMA towards further alleviating the plight of the affected victims.
He equally assured them that the relief materials will be shared among affected victims according to the need of every household without any fear or favour.
