Following leadership tussle that has led to destruction of property worth millions of Naira at Amuzu and Mbamini respectively, the Lawmaker representing Izzi East Constituency in Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Hon. Anthony Onyibe Nwegede (JP) on Saturday 6 June, 2020 appealed to the people to embrace peace as it remains panacea to development.
Hon. Nwegede made the appeal during interaction with newsmen in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State capital, stating that no community attracts development under rancour and bitterness.
He added that the period did not call for blame and division from all quarters but coming together of entire members of the village to accept government directive in ensuring permanent peace is restored at Amuzu and Mbamini village in Igbeagu autonomous community, Izzi Council Area of the state.
The Lawmaker while responding on fate of victims whose property were at various villages destroyed by miscreants hinted that all affected persons would not be abandoned by government.
He prayed to the community leaders among academic and village Heads to geared effort towards bringing peace in all corners of the area, stressing that the state Government lead by Engr.David Umahi remain Advocate of peace and would not allow any form of rift in any part of the state.
He, further maintained optimistic that the peace Committe lead by Prof. Francis Idike would bring end to the misunderstanding, urging the youths to give him their support.
The Lawmaker, advised that the two embattled village heads should forfeit their position as electing new village Head would introduce a new government in the area.
