Not less than four hundred identified less privileged mothers among widows were on Monday showered with palliiatives materials by  the Ebonyi State Chapter Labour Party Chairman, Chief Moses Nwobegu in a way to cushion the effects of COVID-19 scourge.

Chief Nwobegu made the donation at Inyimegu Central School, Iboko, Izzi LGA Headquarters noting that his party received the pallative materials as handed over to the officials by the state government through the state chapter of Inter Party Advisory Council,(IPAC) to the most vunerables cutting across the 13 council areas in the state.

According to the Labour Party Boss, the state government under the leadership of Governor David Umahi had provided rice and some other relief materials but his party supported the government with some cartons of maggi, and bags of salt to assist the vunerable persons to cushion the scourge of the pandemic.

Chief Nwobegu who was at Inyimegu Central School, Iboko, the Izzi Council Headquarters to share the pallative items to the vunerable persons thanked the governments of President Muhammad Buhari and Governor David Umahi for having provided them some pallative materials to distribute to the indigent people through their party umbrella, saying that the gesture entails that, the duo are true democrats who care about the welfare of their people.

He encouraged the people to always pray for every government in power, adding that, President Buhari and Governor Umahi had stood tall to champion the course of pallatives distributions and squarely fighting the spread of Covid-19 pandemic, advising them to keep its precautionary measures.

According to him: “The state government in three days ago, sent pallative materials to each political party in the state, to take them to the grassroots, so that the people there will know that they are being remembered. And that is exactly what we did. I know, we don’t have enough, but since it is a party to party relationships with the governments, and we have only one state Governor, in the person of Chief David Nweze Umahi.

“We don’t have two governors. We also have only President in the country, President Muhammadu Buhari. Both of them have been championing on this course of pallative distributions to make sure that it gets to the grassroot people. And because of that, we decided to complement the little we have. We on our own added maggi and salt, because you can’t cook without maggi and salt. We also added facemask and distributed to them for now. We are not saying that what the state government handed over to our party to distribute is too small, but we rather call individuals, parties and groups to see this as a collective duty. We can’t leave this fight against Covid-19 pandemic to state or federal government alone. The little you have, bring it, the labour party has added the little we have to support the government in power. So, all political parties should do likewise to help the most vunerables to cushion the scourge. All in all, let us keep the government directives, and the Covid-19 precautionary measures to avoid further spread of this deadly disease.”

Meanwhile, the beneficiaries who were mostly the vunerable widows and orphans, Mrs. Maria Nwovu, Mrs. Amarachi Uwakwe, Chinyere Origum, Ngozi Nwenyi, among others expressed joy and thanked the state and federal governments for remembering them, as a stakeholder from the area, Mr. Titus Urum commended the support of the Labour Party Boss and his teeming members in the state.
